Making Disciples of All Nations

Project M.I.S.E.

M.I.S.E. is a mission project based on four components: prayer, spiritual growth, fellowship, and evangelism. The goal of the project is to create groups of believers who will meet on a regular basis in all cities and villages in the Silesia Region of the Czech Republic and also beyond its border where such fellowships of believers do not exist. This project began in 2006 and was internally supported by the Silesian Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession. The project has already borne some first fruits. The mission teams have shared the Gospel in the streets and in schools and people in new locations were there was no Christian fellowship have begun to gather together. New mission teams have been started to add to the work of the original teams. These teams evangelize where there are no Christians with the goal to begin a youth group, a Bible study group, and plan for a future con- gregation plant.

C.A.M.E

Center for Asian-American Missions and Evangelism (CAME) is a Lutheran (LCMS) outreach to Asian immigrants working to open new missions opportunities in North America. CAME works with congregations to

  • raise awareness about the Asian mission field and facilitate initiation of new outreach.
  • identify, recruit, assess, and support indigenous Asian ethnic leaders, missionaries and church workers.
  • establish strong training programs for Asian ethnic missionaries and church workers
  • provide networking and coordination for Asian ministries in North America (and in Asia).

We support several missions each month financially: Disaster Recovery Assistance, Adopt A Student, Lutheran Ministries of NWFL, CAME, POBLO, Myers Missionaries, Project M.I.S.E.

Missionaries to Macau, China

Myer's Blog

Our congregation is supporting the work of the Myer's family in Macau, China as they offer English-as-a-Foreign-Language classes through LCMS World Missions. By seeking to build relationships with their students they may be given the opportunity to share the Gospel with them through their actions and words.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!
decorating picAs we celebrate this Advent season, we invited our students to decorate the English center. We are also setting up a "giving tree", so that our students can also give clothing and toys that we collect to a local orphanage.

We like to spend time with our students outside of the classroom. Over a cup of coffee or a meal, we can focus our attention on getting to know them on a different level, and get into deeper conversations. On a recent dinner with a student, I was thinking that it was unfortunate that we hadn't gotten into a discussion of his faith. Just then, we walked past a large tree that the city just over the border had set up. Christmas decorations are not entirely new, and it was no surprise that the tree was placed inside the largest mall in town, since people here learned that Christmas decorations help sell gifts.

I took this opportunity to ask my student "do you know what that is?" To my happy astonishment, they had placed a crown on top of the tree! Not a deer or a Santa, but a symbol with deep meaning. My friend answered that it was a Christmas tree. I asked him what was placed at the top of the tree, to which he answered, " a crown." "Right!," I answered, "but who is the crown for?" "The queen!," he replied. "No, not a queen, but the King. Do you know who is the King?" I continued. He looked a little perplexed, so I answered for him, "Jesus." Fortunately, he had some context from our Bible studies at the English center, so I could say that Jesus is our King who comes to save us, but also to be our Lord and King. "We worship him at Christmas because he came into our world. Imagine that! Our King in heaven would come into this world, suffer and die for us, and humble himself to become human!" I hope that my friend's faith continues to grow, and that he as he gets married just after the new year, he and his bride will worship the King of heaven, Jesus Christ, and grow in that faith.

The best Christmas present of all...

I have no idea how Christmas will ‘feel’ this year. Halloween came and went with no cute costumed children, no candy or pumpkins in South Africa. Thanksgiving, November 24, was just another Thursday. But no matter how I ‘feel’ on December 25th I know that Jesus is the best present of all because He came for me, He came for you, knowing that we would be in desperate need of a Savior.

I doubt I will be opening any gifts on Christmas but my heart will be exceedingly blessed because I will be in Shongweni Village. I began my missionary service on June 1st and finally on December 1st I will begin living and working at Shongweni village working with Pastor Thwala and the precious children who live there. Ginger and I will train alongside Shara Cunningham and Julia Wehrenberg, and transition as Shara moves to Kenya to become a career missionary and Julia returns to America after faithfully serving the Lord for 2 years.

My new address is: Zeal Beale 105 Elangeni Park, 3 Elangeni Road, Hillcrest, 3610 South Africa

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1: 1-5

 POBLO Ministries

People of the Book Lutheran Outreach is a multi-ethnic mission society of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod planting congregations among Muslims and others.  It is only right that Christians share with Muslims what the Bible is shouting to the world—the story of the Savior Jesus Christ.  POBLO trains and sends ethnic missionaries to go to them with the message of that book, God’s Word.
