Communion

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at Good Shepherd in the belief and with the confession that this Sacrament is the very Body and Blood of Christ (The Doctrine of The Real Presence) which is received with the bread and the wine for us to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our faith. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, seek to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, and have the intent, with the help of The Holy Spirit, to amend their sinful lives. Children are welcome to commune after they are confirmed or have taken early communion instruction. If you agree with our beliefs regarding the nature and meaning of this Sacrament, and with our practice concerning administering it, and desire to commune with us, you are welcome!

• Jesus Christ is the only Lord and Savior from all sin, Satan and death.

• The Risen Christ is really present in the Sacrament (Holy Communion) and that with the bread and wine is His true Body and Blood.

• With the help of God, my response is to resolve to dedicate my life to the service of Him in His Body, the Church, by regular group worship, group Bible study, sacrificial giving, thankful living, and a faithful witness.

Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday, alternating between the morning Worship Services.

Worship is celebrating God’s presence and honoring him with our lifestyles. It is more than sitting in the pew on Sunday Mornings. Worship is a component of the ministry of the Word which is common to all Christians, and it is ours not only by right but by command. Through Baptism we became members of the priesthood of all believers. This general priesthood and the public ministry are called together for carrying His Word to the world. Together we have a stake in the mission of the Church. Jesus served all people by giving His life as a ransom for their sin. His death earned eternal life for all sinners who possess saving faith. Because of Christ, we have a role (as individuals and as a community) in the mission of the Church beyond pray, pay, and obey.

A Christ-centered congregation making disciples by proclaiming eternal salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, to all people.
